Bluebird and Bumblebee

Here are a couple new tattoos.  I was really happy to place this bluebird on a sternum, such a bold but intimate spot, I'd love to do more work like this.  The bumblebee was really exciting too, really detailed, but I think it will age well.

It's been a fun spring so far.  I've been doing mostly black and grey pieces, really line and dot based designs.  Thanks to all my clients (goes without saying) for their openness.

Melbourne Rites of Passage Convention and other news...

So as the title suggests, we have recently been to the Rites of Passage Festival in Melbourne. We had an awesome time (ummmm, I think I say that a lot). We met some really great people and got to watch some of our favorite tattooers work, which is always sweet. I'm just gonna post some pics of our trip because I can't really think of what to write now, haha. I am getting writers Blog (Block).

The beautiful Royal Exhibition Building.

The first thing to do when you get to Melbourne, big breakfast at an awesome cafe

Our home for the weekend, although we didn't spend much time in it :P
Matt doing a little gap filler on our mate Terry James

Little freehand Hannya and Matt Deverson 4 Terry James?? Should I be worried?
Massive knee Chrysanthemum (didn't finish so no pics, sorry)
Peeps are representing!! And they look so handsome doing it
Shige working late, everyone as gone home and he is still hard at it! I could still watch him tattoo all day!

Working hard.... ok maybe not hard but he is working a little
Booth munchies. "The Sandwich"- Snickers cookies, peanut butter, Nutella and Caramello Koala. Sounds good, tastes good, didn't feel too good after though

The "sweet tooths" themselves eating "The Sandwich"
Matt pretending to help me pack up
And what will go down as the classiest after party ever! Sorry for the grainy photo. But seriously most swanky bar I've ever been to. Thanks again to Crystal and Owen for all the organizing!
Onto the tattoos:

Here is some recent work from Simone:

Some from Matty:

And in very exciting news!! Our very good friend Alvaro Flores is coming to Adelaide to tattoo at Progression. He will be with us from Tuesday 10th of July to Saturday 14th of July (inclusive)- so 5 days. Alvaro usually resides at Korpus Tattoo in Melbourne, so you can go to their website to view more of his work at http://korpus.com.au/home.html

And here is a sneak peak anyway. If you are keen on getting tattooed by Alvaro, you better be quick, he has already had a lot of interest. So please email me at progressiontattoo@hotmail.com

That's all

And a few from Joe

Unfortunately this year's State of the Art convention has been cancelled, so we're going to be looking at a few other ones and hopefully make it to one later in the year. It's a shame we won't get to see some of the friends we made at Derby again this year, but maybe next year we'll make it.
Here are a few of the things that have been keeping me busy, had a lot of great tattoos and customers in the past couple weeks, and have a lot booked in for next week as well.

I love doing really heavy black designs, especially roses

Finished off this sleeve last weekend (I didn't tattoo the writing of black and grey flowers next to it)

Ian still managed to come in after breaking his ankle, we couldn't work on his leg so he got this cool little heart instead

I've been dying to do this design as soon as I drew it up, and Lee sat through the pain to get it done

What Andy's been up to

Here are a few pieces on customers that Andy's been working on.

Lots of black and grey religious tattoos, starting with a little cherub

Knocked this out in one sitting
