Well last week was a tough week. I think working 7 days a week for the past 5 months is finally taking a toll on us!! Also I just have to ask if people can be so kind as to be patient with us at the moment. Matt is under a lot of pressure to get work finished (as much as he can) before we go away. So we do apolgise to those people who have called recently to try and get in before we go and we haven't been able to help. Matt very much wants to get any work he has started finished but he is only one person and is booked out well in advance these days. Thanks so much to those people who have been really understanding about this and we will get to you as soon as it is physically possible.

But anyway it's ok, things are looking up!! Japan in 1 week and 6 days- yesery- it is finally upon us!!

We had a "photo day" on Saturday, thanks to all those people that took the time to come down! So we took some photo's of some of Matt's latest stuff, it's all pretty much been posted on facebook and myspace, so check them out. And I may as well post a few here:

Also Matt finished the big phoenix side piece he was doing on Jess. Big thanks to Jess for being such a great client of ours and for toughing that side piece out like a true champ- your one tough cookie!! Also thanks for the wonderful thoughtful gift. Note to other customers- gifts are always very well received here :P Anyways here is some pics of that one:
So that's about it for this installment. Take care everyone, have a great week, we will!

oh and.....

WE WOULD LIKE TO ALSO REITERATE THAT WE DO NOT TATTOO ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES- NOT EVEN WITH PARENTAL CONSENT!! We just need to put that out there in the universe. Please wait till you are 18 to get a tattoo. Thanks for listening!

Melbourne Tattoo Convention!!

So as the title suggests we are heading to the Melbourne Tattoo Convention, 28th, 29th and 30th of January 2011. It's officially called "Rites of Passage". Go visit the website for more information (http://www.ritesofpassagefestival.com/)

It's very exciting, being that it is Matt's first one. There is a lot to plan and do before then but we have it under control (well I do) :P. Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the people who have responded with interest at getting tattooed at the convention, it's been an awesome response! So in saying that Matt has one spot left, so if you were thinking about it, you better get on it! There are just a few stipulations we have for the convention:

  • Matt won't be tattooing anyones necks, ribs, stomach, inside upper arm or lower back (logistically we can't because we only have a chair to work with and can't lay people down).
  • We really need people to be 100% committed if they do book in. We cannot have cancellations (Matt will only be doing 2 tattoos a day and if one doesn't show up, it's really a wasted day for us).
  • Matt really would prefer to have clients give him complete artistic license with each piece he designs. He of course takes what you are after into complete consideration and will take all ideas on board when designing the piece. But the design aspect has to be left completely up to him (this is chance to show case his ability and work and he only wants to do tattoo's that will be a good representation of this).
  • We will be asking for $300 non-refundable deposit when we make your booking.
  • All travel expenses to get to Melbourne and cost involved in getting to convention are at your own expense.
  • We will be charging Matt's normal rate of $160 per hour (with minimum appnt times 4-5 hours, possibly longer).
  • We will be doing consultations within the next few weeks, so we can meet and discuss and for deposit to be paid.
  • Plus the piece has to be Japanese (he is already doing a number of Tradition Old School pieces)
So if your keen you just have to send me an email, with your idea, where you want it and how large. Plus name and phone number too!

In other news, we had our pictures taken for the Advertiser this morning. The publication we are going to be in is the "SA Weekender", which is a lift out in the Saturday Advertiser. Should be around 3 or so weeks before it's in there. Hopefully we didn't embarrass ourselves too much! Unfortunately I was made to get into some of the pics, which I am so unhappy about. Anyone who knows me knows I am not the most photogenic. As well as the fact that I was very ill prepared for a "photoshoot". I was adamant they weren't gonna get me but didn't work out that way. Anywho, should be interesting. Big thanks to Amy Gunt, who came in to get interviewed for the piece too (especially since it was 9am on a Sunday)!! Thanks for that mate, really appreciate it.

For those who have been asking for new merch, it should be on it's way soonish. Matt is working on the last bit of designing today and hopefully within the next month we should have them. We are hoping to do guys and girls Ts, plus tank tops!! Summer is a coming. The older Ts we still have, are now half price (were $40, now $20)- pretty much only larger and XL left but plenty of em!

Japan count down- 3 weeks today!!!!!!!!!! Woop.

That's all.

Bring on JAPAN!!

How cute are the puppies? I left the shop for a minute and so they are sitting at the window, watching to see when I was coming back! It's a shame we can't really bring them into the shop these days, we are just too busy now and too many people coming in and out and they just love everyone too much (aka jump all over everyone walking through the door).

Well as the title suggests we are getting pretty damn excited for our Japan trip! Count down is 4 weeks and 4 days (but who is counting):P.

So we are in oraganisation mode that's for sure. Lot's to organise and lot of work to get through before we go. Anyone wanting to get tattooed by Matt will have to wait till next year now, he is overbooked as it is. But hopefully in the new year he will be taking on some new work (that list is starting to grow rapidly now too), so be quick if your keen on getting something started in the new year.

I took some photo's of the shop the other day. The big room has changed a lot since we have Simone and Jamie in there now. So thought it was appropriate to have a photo update. Loving the new look, the shop is really looking lived in these days.

So we have some exciting news, we will be featured in a story that is going into the Advertiser in the next 4 weeks or so. They are doing a story on tattooing and wanted to interview Matt, I think the basic gist is about how tattoo's are so mainstream now and how popular the industry is these days. Sorry I am so bad, can't remember what the actual magazine is- but apparently it will be going in Saturdays paper at some point- so keep watch! Hopefully we don't sound like tools, like the last time we put ourselves in the paper:P

We are also currently updating Matt's portfolio and so we should have new work up on the facebook and myspace really soon. We are having a photo day soon to take a bunch of shots of stuff that has recently been finished. Matt has just had so much large ongoing stuff that it has been a while since he has had new stuff to show. We are just coming up to when a few of his really large pieces are going to be finished, so stay tuned for that one too.

Any who, that's it for this installment, riveting I know. Cheerio!
